St. Kilian’s got very active during Active School Week from 24th – 28th April 2017. This is an annual initiative run by Active Schools and is supported by the Department of Education and Skills and Healthy Ireland.
The main aim of the week was for the children to be physically active for at least 60 minutes each day. Each child was given a ‘Physical Activity Challenge Chart’ on which they could record their activity. To aid this, each morning we offered an activity before school from 8-8.20am which ranged from skipping and running to a yoga session with our Secondary School teacher Donal Earls. On the Friday we also organised a circuit on the astro pitch for the whole Primary School which was enjoyed by all.
The participation across the school community was fantastic and the week proved to be a great success. Many thanks to everyone who helped organise it, in particular Mr. Goldrick and Ms. Collins.
