Wednesday 04/10/2017 – Senior Boys Away v Mount Temple
What a thrilling game our senior boys gave us away to Mount Temple. Led by Captain Shomik Chackraborty who was sensational in goals our boys were up against a very strong Mount Temple senior team. The line up: In goals Captain Shomik Chakraborty, left back Andrew Wyatt, Sweeper Traloch Butler, center back Kaled Alsyeg, Right back Tom Simms. In midfield on the right Denis Popov, centre mid. Sam Staunton and left mid. Alex Henry. Up front on the right Daniel barker, centre forward Hugo Heisterkamp and left wing Daniel Lynch. On the bench Eoin Brennan and Tristan Molphy.
From the start we were under pressure and Shomik showed his leinster under 18 credentials with some brilliant saves to deny Mount Temple. We went 1-0 down from lack of concentration at a long corner, allowing the taker to waltz into the circle unchallenged to score. We came back and Hugo Heisterkamp caused havoc with some of his runs. We won a short corner and Alex Henry scored from to get level the game 1-1. Alex, Sam and Denis started to make inroads into the Mount Temple 25 and we could have taken the lead.
Mount Temple won a free and again we allowed the player waltz into the circle unopposed to put Mount Temple 2-1 up at the break.
Early in the second half Mount Temple scored to go 3-1 up. Back came St. Kilian’s and Hugo who was having a stormer scored from a short corner to bring us to 3-2. Traloch Butler and Tom Simms were pushing us forward. Shomik was on fire in goals. Denis Popov and Daniel Barker were flying down the right and Andrew Wyatt had a huge battle with their right wing. Alex Henry and Sam were conducting the orchestra in midfield and Alex threw a couple of great aerials to Hugo who latched onto one and went on an amazing run across the circle beating two men got in along the end line and swept a ball across the goal leaving Eoin Brennan with a tap in goal to level the game at 3-3. With Time running out Mount Temple scored to win 4-3.
Goal of the Match: Eoin Brennan who got on the end of Hugo’s mazy run.
Man of The Match: Hugo Heisterkamp who gave a swashbuckling display at center forward. Just pipping Alex, Sam and Shomik.
