A huge congratulations to our 8th class film club students who won one of only three awards for best film during the recent europafilmt!* competition.
Their film, entitled “Donald Trump vs The British King”, starring Olwyn Quill and Lucia Garde, was praised by the jury** for its humour, the quality of the acting, the fact that the film was based on real people and how the theme of rebellion was dealt with. The students were thrilled and the school and their teacher Ms Kavanagh are very proud of their achievements. (The film will be available to watch on our website shortly!)
Most of the winning students were able to be present at the prize giving in Hannover last weekend. In addition to taking part in the europafilmt! festival, they were able to participate in various activities as part of the up-and-coming festival as well: they watched the official prize giving and numerous professional short films and got to experience the 360 degree film tent.
The students had travelled to Germany together with Ms Kavanagh and Mr O’Driscoll last Wednesday and in addition to spending time at the film event in Hannover, they also took in the sights of Berlin and Hamburg.
We are grateful to Claudia Wenzel and Burkard Inhülsen, who are the main people behind the international short film festival Up and Coming and also facilitated the hosting of the europafilmt! German Schools’ film competition which is now in its fourth year.
