On 31st January our 6th class girls played in the AIJS Basketball tournament. None of the girls had played a basketball match before and in their first game lost 3-2 to Teresians. However, they learnt quickly and played better in each match as the tournament went on. They won 3 out of their next 4 games, playing with so much pride and determination that many other coaches commented on their performances.
They narrowly missed out on a semi-final spot, finishing on the same points as Mt Anville who they had beaten in the head-to-head but losing on baskets scored overall. The girls then played for 5th spot and finished the tournament on a high.
They were an absolute pleasure to watch, not only for their improvement throughout the tournament but for their fight and determination to win while smiling the whole way through. Well done to all 6 girls!
