Senior Boys through to B League finalFrom the start Newpark were on top and had several chances. The Kilian’s rearguard were holding them at bay.
After 18 minutes St. Kilian’s broke out and scored when Robin Macarulay picked up a rebound and swept home to put St. Kilian’s 1-0 up. Newpark won two short corners but failed to score. It was 1-0 to Kilian’s at the break.
From the start of the second half Newpark lifted their game and had Kilian’s under fierce pressure. Goalkeeper Daniel Sheeran made a couple of world class saves to deny Newpark. Eventually after 13 minutes Newpark made the breakthrough when they won a short corner and Tyron Kritzinger scored a brilliant goal when he dragged a rocket of a shot to the roof of the net.
Newpark piled on the pressure and won five short corners in succession but the Kilian’s defence and keeper kept them out.
The game ended 1-1 and went to one on ones.
Daniel Sheeran, the Kilian’s keeper, was brilliant and prevented Newpark from scoring in three of the penalties. St Kilian’s scored 3 (Hugo Heisterkamp, Robin Macarulay, Ben McTiernan) and Newpark 1 through Tyron Kritzinger
