The final game against St. Mary’s Booterstown saw a breath-taking game produce 13 goals in all, with St. Kilian’s winning 7-6. There were nine goals in the first half, all scored in the opening 20 minutes but then the goals slowed down! St. Kilian’s led 2-0, then 3-2 and 4-3, before going into the halftime break, losing 5-4. St. Mary’s added to their tally in the opening two minutes of the second half.
St. Kilian’s responded very well and were dominant for long periods of the second half, restricting St Marys to occasional counter attacks that were comfortably dealt with. Alex Collins and Geordan English scored to level matters and, with only minutes remaining, Sebastian Hartas scored the final goal of the game to give St. Kilian’s a winning lead. Credit must also go to St. Mary’s who contributed magnificently to a phenomenal game and were magnanimous in defeat.
