On Thursday evening, 31st of August 2023, we warmly welcomed our new principal, Mrs Anja Meier to St. Kilian’s Deutsche Schule. Numerous parents and board members took part in the celebrations. A very special honour was the presence of the German Ambassador H.E Cord Meier-Klodt, who addressed Mrs Anja Meier with personal words of welcome to the School Community. Among the guests were also the German Cultural Attaché, Herr Henneberg, the Chairperson of the Board of Management, Herr Schäckermann and board members from St. Kilian’s as well as representatives from the LFI, who warmly welcomed our new principal.
After having worked at German grammar schools in Rheinland-Pfalz for 28 years teaching English and Latin, including 19 years of experience in school management and leadership, Mrs Anja Meier has decided to take up her new role as principal at St. Kilian’s as of August 1st, 2023. We wish her all the best and every success in her work, with Mr Nigel Macmillan, Principal Secondary School, Mrs Annette Black, Head of the Primary School and Kindergarten (acting) and Mr Patrick Drechsler, Deputy Principal, on her side and are looking forward to a fantastic new school year ahead.
As Frau Meier has put it in her own words: ‘I am deeply convinced that running a school is not like running any other business: It is all about people, yes, but it is about very special people and their ever-changing needs:
- It is about little children getting to know the world.
- It is about boys and girls growing up and coming to grips with their world and themselves.
- And it is about young adults preparing to leave St. Kilian’s for the real world.
Their well-being and their education is what school is all about and that is what we also need our hearts for. And we are in this together: parents, teachers, school management and Board.
(…)
It is the children
always the children – you know that:
Their heart is a little star illuminating the earth.”
For whatever is to come I promise to have an open door, an open ear and an open heart for you, be it your worries or your suggestions to further improve our life as a school community.
Let’s be Kilianish!“
