Our annual mini marathon on Thursday, 6th of June 2024, was a superb example of school spirit and good, clean fun. The theme for this year was happiness with the children wearing clothes that make them happy. All children from Kindergarten to 6th Class took part, each running an admirable lap or two of the Hockey Astro (depending on age). Yes, of course, there was a competitive edge to it but the truly heartening part was the way the children supported each other – win or lose. There was some beautiful running on display too. Teachers played their part, running alongside, pacing the children who needed support. Some teachers were so good as to run in 3 races – above and beyond the call of duty. As ever, it was wonderfully organised by the P.E. Department – thank you to all, particularly Mrs Collins. Over €1,300 was raised for the D.S.P.C.A – Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, as chosen by our Active Committee. Needless to say, the après match ice-cream was a huge hit.
