Last Friday, 8th of November 2024, marked the final round of our first in-school reading competition. Class winners from Classes 5 to 7 across all German groups participated. The finalists passionately presented excerpts from their favorite books and read an unfamiliar text. The jury then selected a DF school winner, a DF Sek I school winner, and a DM school winner from among the finalists. Congratulations to our three German winners – Emma, Oscar and Colin, an overall school champion who is also Colin was chosen to represent our school in this year’s international reading competition for German schools abroad (Vorlesewettbewerb für Deutsche Auslandsschulen). This competition promotes reading across borders and encourages students to develop their literacy skills while sharing their love for literature on a global scale. It is only the second year that the competition is being held. Last year, schools from cities such as Athens, The Hague, Guatemala, Hong Kong, London, Manila, Moscow, Oslo, Riyadh, Singapore, Sofia, Taipei, Tbilisi, Tokyo, Toulouse, Pretoria, and Silicon Valley participated. We are thrilled to be part of it for the first time and not only congratulate all winners but wish our school champion the best of luck for the international final.
