On Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th February 2025 St. Kilian’s hosted this year’s KiMu competition and the 1st round of JuMu (regional) competition with 27 students from Primary and Secondary School taking part. We were treated to a wonderful variety of music including performances on the piano, both classical and electric guitar, cello, recorder, trumpet, and violin. We also enjoyed some fantastic vocal performances. Congratulations and well done to all our talented and dedicated musicians. A big thank you to our fantastic judges – Mr Schäckermann, Mrs Meier, Mr O’Driscoll and Mrs del Alcantara and a thank you to our music teachers Mr O’Driscoll and Mrs del Alcantara for organising this wonderful event.
On Friday 7th February 2025 we will be holding our KiMu Concert in the Assembly Hall in Primary School and are looking forward to seeing our younger musicians perform again in front of their peers from classes 1 to 6 class.
“Jugend Musiziert (JuMu)” is a competition for young musicians organised by the Deutscher Musikrat in Munich, Germany. It is the biggest musical competition that motivates thousands of young non-professional musicians to achieve extraordinary standards in music. Organised over three rounds it allows students to compete in a number of categories from classical to pop and pitch their talent against that of students from various schools in Germany. Besides the competition itself young people are given the opportunity to meet and to interact with other young people and master new challenges.
