Board of Management
One of our great strengths at St. Kilian’s is the extraordinary level of involvement of its parents. Our Board of Management consists of up to nine parents who are democratically elected by other parents at the AGM and two teachers, one from Secondary School and one from Primary School/Kindergarten who are elected by the teachers. In addition, meetings of the Board of Management are regularly attended by the Principal, the Head of Primary and Kindergarten, the Head of the Sek-I Programme, the Facilities Manager and a representative of the German Embassy.
The Board of Management manages the school on behalf of the members of Deutsche Schule Dublin CLG, that is to say the parents and foster parents of pupils attending the school and the Kindergarten. The responsibilities of the Board of Management include maintenance of close liaison with the Principal, review and adoption of school policies, sitting on interview panels for new staff, maintenance of facilities, finances, hearing appeals and attendance at major school functions (both social and academic). In carrying out its duties, the Board must uphold the characteristic spirit (ethos) of the school.
The Board of Management devolves the day-to-day running of the school to the Principal who is responsible for all matters academic, including providing guidance and direction to the teachers and other staff of the school. The Board of Management meets monthly.
For a detailed understanding of the Board’s structure please read our Constitution. The Chair of the Board of Management can be contacted by email or by post at the school’s address:
