Minor Cup Final - Minor Boys Short Cornered by St. Andrew'sWhat a game our minor boys gave us in the cup final. It was a rip-roaring game from end to end. The squad: Daniel Sheeran GK, Mark Donovan, Hugh Harnett, Jake Dempsey ,Rod Mc Auliffe , Jake Nourse, Ben McTiernan, Cian Walley, Michael Brennan, Louis Prehn, Oisin Wynn, Cian Griffiths, Reece Macarulay, Thomas O Grady, Cai Bocus, Alex Zamolotskikh.
From the start St. Andrew’s had us under pressure. They scored from a short corner after 10 minutes to go 1-0 up. St. Kilian’s lifted their game and it was end to end. Our back four Rod, Mark, Louis and Michael were brilliant and holding a very strong St. Andrew’s front three. Daniel Sheeran was having a stormer in goals making great saves when needed. Our midfield led by Captain Jake Nourse who was ably assisted by Jake Dempsey and Cian Walley were in a huge battle to get us on the front foot. Up front Hugh Harnett, Ben McTiernan and Cian Griffiths worked their socks off to try to get a goal.

We spoke about lifting the tempo of our game and going more direct with balls into the circle. From the start of the half right back Michael Brennan went flying down the side line and from the 22 he drilled a rocket of a shot across the circle which Hugh Harnett deflected into the roof of the net to level the game at 1-1. It was end to end with both sides looking to score the vital goal.
With time running out St. Andrew’s poured forward and won a corner which they scored from to go 2-1 up and seal the game.
I could not be prouder of our boys who gave their all and no more could you ask. They did themselves and their school proud.
Hard Luck Boys!
Man of the match: Shared between Rod, Daniel and Mark.
Goal of the match and goal of the season: Hugh Harnett who deflected a rocket of a ball into the roof of the net.
We look forward to representing Leinster with St. Andrew’s in the all-Ireland Waring Cup. The boys also have the Minor B League
Final after Easter. Thanks to all the boys and girls who came to support us today. Thanks also to the many parents who took time out to attend the final.
Finally, after the game we went to Micky Ds and while there, a lady came over to congratulate us on the behaviour of the boys. She said they were a credit to the school. Nice way to end the day!
