Junior Boys through to B League FinalWhat a week for our junior boys, winning in the first round of the cup and beating Wesley B in the B league semi-final!
The league semi-final was a thrilling affair with both teams pouring forward from the off. Wesley made the breakthrough after 7 minutes when Oisin Ryan poked home a loose ball to put Wesley 1-0 up. Back came St. Kilian’s who raced forward from the tip off and Jake Dempsey scored after picking up a rebound from the keeper to level the game at 1-1. It was a tense first half as both teams looked for the advantage going into half time.
Half Time: St. Kilian’s 1; Wesley B 1
From the start of the second half St. Kilian’s lifted their game and started making inroads into the Wesley circle. After 3 minutes Michael Brennan drilled wide. The St. Kilian’s back four led by sweeper Arthur Simms tightened up and allowed St. Kilian’s to create chances. After 15 minutes and lots of pressure St. Kilian’s won a corner and Michael Brennan smashed home a rocket of a shot from the top of the circle to put St. Kilian’s 2-1 up. 4 minutes later we caught Wesley on the break from our own 22. A terrific passing sequence down the left finished off by Robin Macarulay who scored to make it 3-1.
Well done boys!
