Spielbericht
Minors sail round Columba'sOur Minors had a convincing 4-0 win over St. Columba’s in the quarter final of the cup.
From the start our midfield led by Captain Jake Nourse, who was ably assisted by Jake Dempsey and Cian Walley were on top and forced Columba’s to defend. After 3 minutes Ben McTiernan went on a mazy run played a delicious pass to Hugh Harnett who smashed home to put us 1-0 up. We were all over Columba’s winning a string of corners but failed to score. After 17 minutes we won a corner and Mark Donovan scored from a rebound to put us 2-0 up. Again after 21 minutes we won another short corner and this time Rod McAuliff drilled home to put us 3-0 up. Our back four Rod, Mark, Louis and Michael were on top and goalkeeper Daniel Sheerin was cool in goals making sure balls were cleared away when they came through.
Half Time: St. Kilian’s 3, St. Columba’s 0
In the second half we were able to give the bench a run and we won more short corners. It took us 17 minutes to get the fourth when Cian Griffiths swept home on the post to put us 4-0 up. We are now in the semi-final of the cup. Can the boys make history and be our first ever team to make a cup final? Well done boys!
