U15 Boys bow out in soccer finalOur U15 boys were narrowly defeated in their final last Friday 3rd May. After falling behind to an early goal, they responded excellently and equalised with a high-quality goal. Hugo Sabella initiated the move with an excellent first touch and then played it out to the left wing. After some clever inter-play between Daniel Sheeran, Felix Hederman and Cian Walley, the ball was crossed to the back post where Jake Dempsey coolly powered it to the net.
The game continued to be closely fought and it appeared that it would remain level as we approached halftime. However, St Paul’s won a corner and from the ensuing set piece, their striker got a glancing header at the near post to give them the lead again.
St Kilian’s switched to an attack-orientated formation and created a number of half chances. Our opponents were threatening on the counter attack and it proved costly midway through the second half when their right winger showed good footwork before shooting to the goal to double their lead. St Kilian’s continued to push for a lifeline back into the game and had a number of further half chances, with the best being a shot by Jack Harrington that came back off the upright.
