Fencing
Fencing is offered to Primary and Secondary School students on Wednesday afternoons and is delivered by Pembroke Fencing Club.
Fencing is a European martial art, that is both physically and mentally challenging, but with a touch of glamour! The sport requires speed, fitness and the ability to out-think your opponent. Consequently, fencing not only improves a child’s physical fitness but can also help to improve concentration and mental agility, including reaction time, hand-eye co-ordination, flexibility, observation and focus.
Fencing also has many other social and behavioural benefits including • Ambition • Self-Control • Self-Confidence and Positive Motivation • Motivation for Success and Task Involvement • Concentration • Imagination and Innovation • Quick Analytical Thinking
The school’s programme is specially designed to further develop all of these skills in pupils.
