First LEGO League (FLL) is a competitive challenge for teams of young people to encourage an interest in real-world issues and develop key skills for their future careers.
The challenge encourages a cross-curricular approach using programming and control, design and technology, mathematics, research, presentation skills, strategic thinking and teamwork to achieve the aims of the challenge.
Teams of up to 10 students, aged between 9 and 16, work in out-of-school clubs, as part of the curriculum or within a community group on all aspects of the challenge.
Participating teams across Ireland and the UK have 8 to 10 weeks from September 2010 to prepare for one of the regional tournament events.
