“Jugend Musiziert” is a competition for instrumental or vocal young musicians and it is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary in 2013.
Under the patronage of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany the biggest musical competition motivates thousands of young non professional musicians to achieve extraordinary standards in music.
Besides the competition itself young people are given the opportunity to meet and to interact with other young people and master new challenges.
Each musician plays in front of a professional jury and they are assessed according to special age requirements.
All German nationals and students of the Eurocampus can take part and in the category ensembles 50% of the group can be recruited from outside the school.
St. Kilian’s has hosted the 1st round (Regionalwettbewerb) of the competition for the past 15 years and a considerable number of our students have made it to the 2nd (Landeswettbewerb) and/or even to the 3rd (Bundeswettbewerb) final round in Germany.
The German school in Dublin is one of 17 Schools in the North-East Europe region. One of these school agrees to host the 2nd round every year.
Next year the German school in Moscow has invited us to travel with their students who qualify in January here in Dublin.
“Kinder musizieren” is a competition catering for all those young students in our school, who are too young to meet the requirements of the main competition.
The competition is organized by Frau Barbara Davitt and if students are interested to participate or have further questions they should contact her.
