St. Kilian’s Green School Awareness Day will take place on Tuesday 26th February. All students and teachers are invited to wear green to show their support on the day and are requested to make a particular effort to keep energy at an all time low by turning off lights, thermostats down and using as little technology as possible.
During break and lunch time green school committee members will be conducting surveys and checking the size of student’s carbon footprints. There will be a showing of “Stomp”, an environmental short stop motion movie out produced by this year’s very creative Young Environmentalists Leah Cullen, Catey Clarkson, Anna Heisterkamp, Katie Mullen and Brian Reynolds. We wish them all the best of luck with their entry into the Young Environmentalist Awards this year.
Also, we are once again calling on you to recycle your used batteries. There are many blue boxes in the assembly and around the school where these can be disposed of safely. if you have any old mobile phones you can bring them in too. The primary green school committee is hosting a cake sale this Friday 1st march in aid of the Jack and Jill foundation and and if you bring an old mobile phone you can get a delicious cake in return.
Thanks for your support!
