Last weekend (19th/20th October), a group of twenty six students and three staff travelled to Manchester and Birmingham to attend two Premiership soccer matches.
On Saturday, after a 6.15 a.m. meeting at the school gates, we were in Old Trafford Stadium to see Manchester United and Southampton contest, a thrilling 1-1 draw, before spending the night in the Bewleys Airport hotel.
We travelled to Birmingham the following day to witness Tottenham Hotspur defeat Aston Villa by 2-0. Outside the Stadium we were fortunate to meet Martin Keown, the former England, Arsenal and Everton defender, who was good enough to spend a little time with the group.
After the game, we travelled across North Wales towards Holyhead, with a stopover at Chesire Oaks Leisureplex and Bowling Arena. Then, it was onwards to the ferry, arriving to St. Kilian’s at 6.45 a.m.
