Dear Students and Parents,
We would like to take this opportuity to welcome you back to the new academic school year and draw your attention once again to the attached document outlining the schedule for the start of the new school year. A full school timetable commences for all students on Thursday 29th August. We look forward to welcoming all new students to St Kilians. This year we have an unprecedented number of students coming from other primary schools in Ireland and abroad to join our 7th class and in all other classes the numbers have remained very strong with a small but significant increase in student numbers in the secondary senior cycle. At the time of writing we can report that our Kindergarten is full and there has been an increase in the applications into primary school.
A key factor in attracting new students to the school continues to be the very solid performance of our pupils in the State Examinations. This year the class of 2013 achieved a staggering points average of 477. We are extremely proud of Imogen Grumley Traynor who achieved a perfect score of 8 A1’s, the only student from a Dublin school to do so. We would like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of the Leaving Certificate class 2013 the very best of luck in their college and university courses. The table below represents the key statistics from the group results.

Several small building projects were completed as part of the summer works. The accounts office has been relocated to what was the sick bay and staff kitchen.
On the teaching front there will be some changes. We would like to extend our congratulations to Ms Ni Ghallchoir and her husband on the birth of baby Fedhlim. Ms Ni Ghallchoir will be replaced by Ms Edel Chadwick. Ms Waters will also begin her maternity leave in September and she will be replaced by Ms Clodagh Martin.
Herr Theurer has left us to return to Germany. We welcome his replacement Frau Antje Kossmann who be Head of the German Department in primary school. After the birth of her son Frau Kempe-Lins has decided not to return to St. Kilian’s – we send her our very best wishes for the future. She will be replaced by Frau Ute Weber and we also welcome her to the school.
As we start the new school year we would like to encourage all students to strive for excellence and set their standard at the height of what their capabilities allow.
We are looking forward to the new academic year, the challenges it will bring and the success we will enjoy. We have no doubt that the class of 2014 can emulate this year’s Leaving Certificate results and we continue our to work towards achieving the very best for our students.
Kind regards,
