On Thursday, 16th of October 2014, Frank Tracey, a historian and Shamrock specialist visited the 7th grade DM class and answered questions from the students about the Operation Shamrock.
The 7th grade DM class is taking part in the student competition on political education 2014 organized by the German Federal Agency for Civic Education for which they work on the topic “Interesting History: Finding traces”. The talk about the Operation Shamrock is part of a project of that competition. The winning school gets a prize and will be announced next spring. The project is conducted in cooperation with the subjects German and History and Literature.
In Addition to Frank Tracey’s talk today, a former Shamrock child – Elizabeth O’Gorman – will be visiting the St. Kilian’s German School Dublin on Tuesday, 21st of October and talk about her own experiences during the Operation Shamrock. We are looking forward to meeting Elizabeth O’Gorman.
