Our Junior Boys had a great draw with St. Columba’s on Tuesday, 14th of October 2014. We changed the team slightly from last Friday with Sasha Küchenmeister moving to centre forward, Conor McCrea moved to right wing and Patrick Junghenn came on at left wing. From the start we were playing excellent hockey and creating chances. Captain Dan Raymond was spraying passes around and conducting the orchestra from centre midfield. Up front Sasha was causing problems and Patrick and Conor were working hard. At the back Hugh Perrette was marshalling our backs Frankie, Max and Khalid.
After 15 minutes we scored a deserved goal. Cillian Bourke went on a mazy run fed Patrick who got inside and Sasha swept home to put us 1-0 up. Max Murphy nearly scored the goal of the season when he picked up a ball on the edge of the circle and drilled a rocket of a shot which the keeper got his glove to and deflected the ball away. Back came Columba’s who scored from a short corner to level at 1-1.
Half time St. Columba’s 1 St. Kilians 1
The second half was end to end and St. Columba’s got on top and scored to go 2-1 up. Alex Henry was a busy goalkeeper and made some fine saves. With time running out we lifted our game and put huge pressure on St. Columbas winning short corners and eventually we scored when Patrick Junghenn swept home to level the game at 2-2. Our boys showed great heart and spirit to come back and get the draw. Well Done Boys!!
