Our 10th class participated in Jack and Jill’s Climb a Hill challenge in September 10th as part of their trip to Tanagh Adventure Centre. The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation is a wonderful charity that helps a lot of families. They provide direct funding to families of children with brain damage up to the age of 4 who suffer severe intellectual and physical developmental delay.
Right after the student settled in at Tanagh Adventure Centre, they headed out into the woods at around 8pm. The guides came with them and tried to control 50 hysterical teenagers. The students didn’t care much about teenage clothes, which deteriorated in the mud. It was dark and they relied solely on their guide’s navigation. They climbed from hill to hill for a good hour and even crawled through a water filled tunnel until they got back to the house. It was really great fun and the fact that they did it for charity made it even better. The students raised a marvelous amount of €491 which is the equivalent to 31 hours of home nursing. All well done!
