Almost 250 sailors across 5 classes and 3 race courses competed in the ISA (Irish Sailing Association) Youth Pathway National Championships on the waters north of Ireland’s Eye, Howth Co.
Dublin in light and tactical conditions. The sailors were all vying for places on squads and teams for international events at the most prestigious annual youth sailing event on the domestic calendar. In the Topper class, the St. Kilian’s student took the top spot after the first race of the 2nd day and held on to that position for the rest of the Championship. The National Yacht Club sailor won four of the six races which, along with a 3rd and a discarded 8th, was enough for him to claim the gold.
Congratulations, Hugh!
