This Thursday 8th May St. Kilian’s German School will host the premiere of their first ever short film festival ” The Kilian’s” in UCD cinema. In total 12 short films, made by students through from 5th class to 6th year, will be brought to the big screen. Throughout the day students of St. Kilian’s will attend screenings in UCD cinema. At the end of the school day the winners will be announced in the school at the ” Kilian’s” awards. The event is supported by UCD and the Goethe institute. Winners of the “Kilian’s” will have the chance to compete against other German schools next September in Helsinki as part of “Nordeuropa filmt”- a collaborative inter schools film project which seeks to provide a forum for students to showcase their film work and to raise media literacy by integrating film into the curriculum. “Nordeuropa filmt” is supported by the German embassy. Patrons of the festival are the famous Finnish directors Oli Saarela and Aki Kurismäki. We look forward to the event and wish the students the best of luck.
