Yesterday we held a ceremony with all students from Primary and Secondary School to raise our second green flag.
The work carried out for the second green flag spanned over two years in total and focused on the theme of energy. A huge amount of work went into creating awareness about improving energy efficiency throughout the campus. Thermostats have been installed on all radiators and a special group are currently looking into the possibility of employing more eco-friendly and cost effective lighting in the school. Behind the scenes, the green school primary and secondary committees have been diligently meeting once weekly to discuss and develop strategies to make the campus more environmental friendly. This year we are also delighted to welcome a newly formed LFI green school primary committee on board to help intensify our work even further. The students conducted an environmental audit in the school and implemented an action plan. Their work was assessed by a green schools inspector in March. St. Kilian’s/LFI now has an environmental policy on litter and waste as well as energy. We continued and improved on the theme of energy in the last months and we started the theme of water last September.
A huge congratulations to all the students involved in the green school initiative. Without their dedication, commitment and hard work this would not have been possible. Many thanks go to all the teachers involved in coordinating the green school, as well as to the other teaching staff, administration and management for their support!
