In the week from 22nd until 27th of Mach 2015, 41 exchange students from Siebold Gymnasium in Würzburg, Germany visited St. Kilian’s. This year’s student exchange programme celebrates its 5th anniversary and has become an integral part of our school curriculum.
The exchange programme gives 7th class St. Kilian’s German School and LFI students the opportunity to visit the city of Würzburg and to improve their German language skills during a stay in a German host family. Also German students get the chance to visit Dublin and to spend a week with an Irish family.
This year’s exchange was a bit shorter than in previous years due to a Lufthansa strike. However, the German students spent 5 fantastic days in Dublin and the surrounding area. Together with their host students and teachers they went on a Dublin city tour, trips to Glendalough and Kildare, attended classes and visited sport events. An introduction to the Irish language and history and even to Irish dancing was also given by our Irish teachers. All have enjoyed their stay in Dublin very much.
Now our students are looking forward to visiting Würzburg in June 2015. They will be accompanied by the teachers Sarah Kavanagh, Sarah O’Donohoe, Helmut Sundermann and Gabriele Adelberger.
