On Tuesday, 10th February 2015, is Safer Internet Day 2015. The Primary School celebrated this event with all students from first class to sixth class taking part in assemblies. The theme was ‘Anonymous?’ and the intent was to demonstrate to the children how to be a wise internet user yet to know that they can never be completely anonymous. The students also spoke about St. Kilian’s Acceptable Use Policy which applies to the use of electronic devices and the internet whilst at school and also when communicating within and about the school community while working at home. The Acceptable Use Policy has recently been revised and updated and the new version will be sent to parents soon.
Safer Internet Day is an EU wide initiative to promote a safer internet for all users, especially young people and to address cyber bullying. 2015 is the twelfth edition of the event celebrated in Ireland on Tuesday 10th February 2015. This year’s theme is once again “Let’s Create a Better internet Together”.
