Minor B League Semi Final
Congratulations to our minor boys who had to dig deep to pull off a 1-0 win over a very good Mount Temple team on Friday in the minor B league semi final.
From the start Mount Temple were causing us problems with a big sweeper venturing forward.
Our back four Frankie Witte, Khaled Alsyegh, Tom Simms and Andrew Wyatt were excellent and kept us in the game. Goalkeeper Eoin Brennan was superb making some great saves in the first half to deny Mount Temple. In midfield Captain Samuel Norse was having a great battle with the opposition centre midfield. He was ably assisted by left mid. Sam Staunton and right mid Eoghan O Connor. Up front Hugo Heisterkamp, Ben Hauer and Louis Murphy worked their socks off to look for a score. We conceded several short corners but defended them all.
Half Time St. Kilian’s 0 Mount Temple 0
We changed to a 4-4-2 for the second half with Sam Staunton moving to centre forward, Ethan Levins coming into the middle alongside Samuel. The moves worked and we won lots of possession and we were creating chances. After 15 minutes we won a free just outside the Mount Temple circle. Khaled charged up in support and was not picked up. Eoghan passed him the ball and Khaled raced into the circle and smashed home to put us 1-0 up. It was end to end and Eoghan Brennan made a world class save to deny Mount Temple. We held out for a great win and now to the final. Well Done Boys!!
A big thanks to Max Murphy who assisted me on the day as I was completely hoarse and Max called
The shots. He was responsible for getting Khaled to move forward and as a result he scored.
Max is a great coach in the making.
