Sally Tuomey and Nina Macauley, two keen readers from our 12th class, have been kind enough to give us an insight into their reading habits:
Sally has loved reading since she was four years old. Her all-time favourite books are
from the Harry Potter series; she first started reading them when she was seven years old and she has since read them in three different languages, English, Irish and German. J.K. Rowling has had a huge impact on Sally: the fact that the author has started writing Harry Potter when she had arrived at a very difficult time in her life and that she had to work incredibly hard for her success, were a great inspiration for her.
Nina likes to read a variety of different genres: while she has read many of Agatha Christie’s books (her favourite being “Murder on the Orient Express”), she has also ventured into the horror genre and has quite enjoyed some Stephen King books, most recently “Joyland”. Nina’s all-time favourite book is “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak; she really enjoyed the author’s way of writing and found his perspective on telling the story, which is set during the time of WW II, very refreshing and inspiring.
