Congratulations to the Concern debating team who last night, Wednesday 11th of February 2015, won their fourth debate of the competition against St. Louis High School Rathmines. Captained by Isabel Clissmann, the 11th class girls, Elizabeth Murphy, Aine Fellenz and Aine Burns, with substitute Emer Clissmann, successfully opposed the motion that Scotland should have voted for Independence.
They are now through to the knockout rounds, having finished in the top 8 teams with 11 points out of a maximum of 12 – 135 teams participated nationwide. The next 16 have another debate to play off for the knockouts (week 23rd to 27th Feb) as only 16 teams go through to the last stage of the competition.
The knockout round will be held between the 9th and 13th of March.
A fantastic achievement! Well done!
