Our boys secondary school soccer team played the Viaro School from Barcelona on Wednesday in Rockbrook Park. The Viaro school is located just outside Barcelona and were in Dublin on a short tour to celebrate their 50th year. They played a local club team on Wednesday evening and then played their hosts, Rockbrook Park, in their final game on Thursday before returning to Spain on Friday.
Our team was captained by Cathal Kelly who received a school pennant from his opposite number before the game. In a closely fought encounter, St Kilians emerged as narrow victors, thanks to an own goal scored by an unfortunate Viaro defender, though Hugo Heisterkamp’s excellent approach play was a significant factor in the goal.
