Reminding all students that this week and next (22 Feb and 4 March), the Green School is running “The Big Travel Challenge” which involves encouraging staff and students to use more environmentally friendly transport, such as bicycling, scooting, walking or car pooling. On Friday there will be a hot chocolate and a biscuit for everyone who cycles or walks to school!
In spite of the fact that we already have a fair number of cyclists we still want to attempt to encourage more members of the school community to cycle to school. For this purpose we will have representatives from Green Schools/An Taisce coming in to hold workshops on safe cycling as well as bike safety. This will coincide with the raising of the Green School Flag on Wednesday Feb 23 which is long overdue but fitting as the team that worked hard on fulfilling the criteria for the 3rd flag (Water) will be representing our school in the first All-Ireland Green School Expo in the RDS on Thursday 25 Feb. This is a big event with many workshops, presentations, Green School stalls and it will be addressed by the president Michael D.Higgins.
