This year 87 Fifth and Sixth Class students will travel to Coláiste na Rosann, in Anagaire, Co. Donegal. The children will travel by bus, stopping at Monaghan Town en route. They will stay with local families – usually between 6 and 10 children in any given house. Boys and girls are accommodated separately. The children will eat their meals in their houses but otherwise spent very little time there. Each day is divided into three activities – school in the morning, an outing in the afternoon, and an indoor activity in the evening. They will be accompanied on the trip by St. Kilian’s teachers. Any parent with any concerns re diet, medication or any other issues should contact Mrs Black at annette.black@kilians.com.
Over the next few weeks the children will be allocated their house and room. Each child is asked to write a list of other children they would like to share a room with in order of choice. These are then collated by Mrs Black and she will try to accommodate each child in the same house, if not the same room with some of their choice of friends. It has always worked perfectly well in the past! Other information will be emailed to parents – what to pack, contact details, electronic device policy etc – over the next few weeks.
Mrs Black has always written a popular daily blog while on the trip (last time it had over 2,000 views!) and she will update the parents a number of times a day on her Twitter account – @annetteblack6 – if you would like to follow her.
