Dear St. Kilian’s Community,
I feel honoured and privileged to introduce myself to you as Deputy Principal of St. Kilian’s Deutsche Schule. My name is Patrick Drechsler. I grew up in the Ruhrgebiet where I attended the Gymnasium am Stoppenberg in Essen. I hold a B.A. in French and German from Trinity College Dublin, a H.Dip.Ed. from NUI Galway and an M.A. in German from Maynooth University. I have also just completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership in Maynooth.
I taught French and German in Wesley College from 2003 to 2016. I was Assistant Resident Housemaster, Head of German and Head of After School Study. I also co-ordinated German Debating and the annual school exchange to Germany. Since 2006 I have held various positions within the State Examinations Commission, namely German Oral and Written Examiner, Superintendent and Monitor.
Honesty, respect for difference, a love of learning and the pursuit of excellence are values I hold dear. I look forward to working collaboratively and reflectively with all educational stakeholders in St. Kilian’s to continue to develop this unique school where the student is at all times the focal point of our attention and energy.
I wish everybody in the St. Kilian’s Community a happy, rewarding and successful academic year 2016/2017.
Glück Auf!
Patrick Drechsler
