There have been some great successes for our soccer team during this school year so far:
Our Junior team, containing many of the Senior team’s players, have won their league group, emerging with maximum points from the group stages. They now face Trinity Comprehensive at home in the first phase of the knockout competition, whilst they also face a cup game against St. MacDaras of Templeogue.
The Senior team, after reaching the Leinster final for the last two seasons, went out in the 2nd round, despite dominating the game vs St. Tiernan’s. Our opponents deserve great credit for scoring the chances that came their way and defending stoutly in the second half. In the league, we may yet qualify from our group section, depending on the results of other games in the section.
Our Minor team have continued where they left off last year: despite losing the first league group game, they went on to top the group after great performances against Adamstown and Confey College. They now face O’Connells in the early stages of the knockout competition. In the cup, they defeated St Laurences 4-3 in a pulsating game to reach the last 16 of the Leinster Cup.
The 1st years have had a good start to their league campaign. They have defeated Rockbrook Park and St Laurences, as well as earning a highly creditable draw away to St Kevins. They still have one league game to play in the New Year as well as their first round cup game.
The Primary School team played a number of challenge games before Christmas as a precursor to the league which starts in the New Year. They have recorded victories against KPS and Sandford but were defeated by Taney and Kill of the Grange, the latter game resulting in an incredible 5-4 scoreline, in which we trailed 5-1 at one stage but nearly came back to earn a draw!
