On Friday night, 2nd December 2016, 38 pupils and four staff departed Dublin to attend two Premiership games, Manchester City vs Chelsea and Everton vs Manchester United. After arriving in Holyhead at 6 a.m., they made their way to the Etihad Stadium to attend the Manchester City Family Funday as guests of the club. From there, they made their way to the stadium to see a pulsating 3-1 away win, with seats situated to allow the action to be viewed from close quarters.
After spending time, and cash, in the club shop, they departed for their hotel, the Macron Stadium hotel, home to Bolton Wanderers FC. After the evening meal and breakfast the following morning, they then departed the hotel and the ground was preparing for the FA Cup tie between Bolton and Sheffield United.
They arrived into Liverpool with adequate time to allow a brief visit to Anfield, home of Liverpool FC, before departing on the short journey (500 metres approximately) to Everton’s stadium, Goodison Park. Following another game bristling with controversy and a share of the spoils, it was time for another journey to the club shop before departing for Liverpool city centre on Sunday evening. From there, they made the return journey to Holyhead for the 2 a.m. sailing which saw the group arrive back to Dublin Port at 6 a.m., exhausted and exhilarated in equal measure!
