The New Year sees the girls ready to play the second half of the schools’ football season, and hopes are high that recent successes can be equalled, if not improved upon!
In the Minor Cup, the girls are awaiting their Semi-Final opponents with great anticipation as two 5-0 wins over St. Patrick’s Grammar School and Colaiste Eoin Hacketstown have made St. Kilian’s the form team in this competition. We will find out our opponents in due course, however the girls are confident that we can indeed progress to the Final and maintain our excellent record at this age group.
In the Junior and Senior Cups, the girls have unfortunately not progressed beyond the early rounds of the competitions, however in both League competitions the girls have every chance to qualify out of their groups and into the knock-out rounds.
Upcoming fixtures against St. Tiernan’s Ballinteer and St. Raphaela’s Stillorgan in these league competitions will determine whether St. Kilian’s will progress, and recent form suggests that wins in these matches are well within the capabilities of the team.
In December, the girls were also delighted to welcome back Rhiannon O’Connor (Class 12) after her lengthy injury which she sustained playing for her club – Rhiannon has been a magnificent player for the school over the last 6 years and it gives everyone great joy to see her back at training and playing matches again.
