Our teams played some very good hockey last week. Here is a summary of the three matches played on Friday 14th October:
Senior Girls v Cluny
What a game our senior girls gave us. Nina Heisterkamp showed her Leinster under 18 credentials. With a blistering first half Hat Trick to put us 3-1 up at the break. Her second was a cracker: Nina beat 4 players before blasting home a rocket of a shot. Aisling Burns had a great game in goals. Aisling is a new keeper and is learning fast. A very fit and speedy forward line of Cluny fought back to get the draw. We played some sparkling hockey. Well done girls! Final score: St. Kilians 3, Cluny 3
Senior Boys v St. Andrews
Missing four of our starting eleven it would be a big ask to take on St. Andrew’s A team. Nevertheless, our boys did us proud. Having conceded two early goals, the team settled down and had some chances. Shomik Chakraborty was sensational in goal and the St. Andrews coach heaped praise on Shomik during and after the game. Dan Raymond, our Captain, had a stormer at centre mid. And despite the goals our back four played well. Final score: St. Kilians 0, St. Andrews 4
Minor Boys v St. Columba’s
Our minor boys cheered us up winning 3-1 away to St. Columba’s. This is a team made up from second year and first year. Jake Dempsey, a rising star from first year, got 2 goals and Captain Traloch Butler got the third. Coach Mervyn tells me they will have to up their game for the visit of St. Andrews A team next Friday. Well done boys! Final score: St. Columba’s 1, St. Kilians 3
