On 23rd of May 2017 we celebrated the graduation of the class of 2017. The gym was packed with family and friends of our 49 12th class students as it was time for them to say goodbye to their school and move into another stage of their lives.
Our current Vorschule children performed a song and a dance on stage, after which they handed a red rose to each of the outgoing 12th class students. This is a tradition at St. Kilian’s, a nice exchange between the children who are about to start their school lives and those who are finishing theirs.
Our guest speaker this year was Dr John Fitzpatrick who gave encouragement to students and stressed the fact that success is not just down to academic performance and intelligence but that hard work and persistence are equally important factors for successful careers.
In between the distribution of prizes by Year Head Herr Sundermann and the guest speaker, music students Anouschka Flanagan, Cillian Purser, Nicholas Weafer, Denis Jaursch and Tim Kelly Lester performed a Beatles song and Nina Heisterkamp showed a film she had made about their TY trip to Hamburg. At the end of the ceremony the students presented a slideshow of pictures of their time in St. Kilian’s and some video footage featuring their teachers.
Students who attended St. Kilian’s all the way from Kindergarten to 12th class were presented with a crystal memento by our Principal Alice Lynch and the Chair of the Board of Management, Dorothee Schmid.
Class representatives Marcela Gonzalez and Max McCabe addressed the audience and they both expressed their gratitude to the school, their parents and friends for having had such a successful and fulfilling time at St. Kilian’s.
We wish all our students the best of luck in their futures and hope that you will stay in touch!
