Thursday 9th November was anti-bullying day in our Secondary School. Students got involved in various activities during their classes: there were quizzes and games and Ms McCrea and Mr Lacey’s 7th class Art students created posters on the topic for display around the school.
Many of the events at St. Kilian’s and the Eurocampus throughout the year foster friendship among students and encourage the curiosity for and acceptance of difference. We celebrate both Irish and German traditions to give students exposure to both cultures equally.
On the recently held European Day of Languages we celebrated not only all the different languages on the Eurocampus but also the different cultures and the diversity here in our school: 7th class students organised a lunch at which everyone brought a dish from their own country.
By promoting and embracing diversity throughout the school, bullying is naturally counteracted. Students at St. Kilian’s, from our youngest Kindergarten children to our Leaving Cert students, encounter difference on a daily basis from a very young age.
