The staff and management would like to wish all parents and students of St Kilian’s peace and joy for Christmas and a good New Year.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire St Kilian’s community for your support and commitment to the work of the school during the last calendar year. In particular, I would like to thank the parents who have given of their time, in big ways and small, to contribute to the work of the school through the many activities they have organised during the year. Your input makes a significant contribution to the vibrant character and atmosphere of our school. Thank you!
I would also like to acknowledge the support and work of the school’s Board of Management and thank them for their enormous commitment. The Board of Management members give generously of their time and expertise to support and enhance the essential work of the school. Without such committed volunteers the development and completion of school projects such as the new Astro soccer pitch would not be possible. On behalf of the community of St Kilian’s I would like to express our gratitude.
We hope that the work on the new Astro pitch will soon be finished and that the pitch will be available to us for the second half of the school year. It will make an enormous difference to the provision of Sport in the school and the break time facilities available to students.
Christmas is a joyous time but for some families it can be a challenging time financially and emotionally. It is important that we as a school community recognise the needs of those less fortunate than ourselves. This year the plight of the homeless has been uppermost in our thoughts and since early November groups have been raising funds for the Peter McVerry Trust. The St Vincent de Paul and the Team Hope Shoe Box appeals have also been the focus of the charity work ongoing in the school. The donations from students, parents and staff are hugely appreciated and will provide much needed support for families who are struggling this Christmas.
I wish you and your families a very happy and peaceful Christmas and every good wish for 2018.
Fröhliche Weihnachten, Happy Christmas, Nollaig Shona.
Alice Lynch,
Principal
