27th February to 3rd March 2017 was Green Travel Week at St. Kilian’s. This initiative was introduced by the Green School Committee to encourage the use of environmentally friendly transport on the way to and from school. It is part of the Green School Travel Programme supported by Green Schools and the environmental organisation An Taisce.
During Green Travel Week a ‘Golden Boot’ competition was held between classes and the winning class in Primary was 6A. Everyone in the class got a pencil, balloon, highlighter, 2 sheets with stickers and some sweets. 6A also got two giant class games!
Following the success of the week, the Green School Committee has been encouraged by the school management to continue with this initiative and each week we give out raffle tickets on a random day to all those in the school community who travel ‘green’, i.e. use the bus / public transport, walk, cycle, scoot, park ‘n stride or car-pool.
We would like to thank everyone for travelling green. Please continue to help us in our effort to gain our fourth Green Flag!
