Led by Captain Jake Nourse, our under 13 boys raced into the B final with a breathtaking first half display. Our back four led by sweeper Rod McAuliffe were brill. Centre back Mark Donovan had a great battle with a big strong physical center forward but kept him quiet.
Louis Prehn was self-assured at left back and Michael Brennan was drilling balls down the line to Hugh Hartnett. Rod’s hit outs were varied and created openings for our midfield. Cian Walley played left and Jake Dempsey played right with Jake Nourse conducting the orchestra in center midfield. Our midfield dominated the first half and set up loads of chances for our forwards. Up front Ben McTiernan ran riot in the first half ably assisted by Jacob Heins and Hugh Hartnett. Ben scored all four goals and is leading the goal scoring charts. That’s 10 in his last four games.
We tired in the second half mainly due to all the games the boys played lately and we allowed St. Andrews to score from a short corner. We lifted our game for the last five minutes and had St. Andrew’s pinned into their half. We emptied the bench and all our squad got a game.
Our under 13 boys should be very proud of their hockey campaign so far. They barely missed out on an A semifinal place. Let’s finish off in style! Roll on the final on March 1st.
Final Score: St. Kilian’s 4, St. Andrew’s 1
Man of the Match: Ben McTiernan who ran St. Andrew’s ragged and scored 4 goals.

Well done Boys! And to coach Mervyn Mc Dowall who has our first year and minor boys playing great hockey.
