Juniors find a way round Sutton Park
Our junior boys had a sensational win in the first round of the cup against Sutton Park. Considering we had only 11 players due to injuries and cry offs it was a great effort by the lads. Eoin Brennan had a great game in goals. Hugo Heisterkamp scored a cracker to put us 1-0 up. Samuel Nourse scored the second when he went on a mazy run and beat four players and smashed home a rocket of a shot. Our back four were brilliant all through the game making great tackles. Daniel Barker played at right back for the first time and for a boy who wasn’t feeling great he put in a man of the match performance. Captain Samuel Norse, Denis Popov and Ben Hauer won the midfield battle. Gregory Weafer had an excellent game in his first outing at right wing. The boys showed great hearth and spirit and deserve the highest praise for their effort. Well Done Boys!!
Final Score: St. Kilian’s 2, Sutton Park 0
Man of the Match: Daniel Barker despite feeling unwell was a warrior on the day.
Goal of the Match: Samuel Nourse who beat four men to score.
Flying Robin makes two and scores one in Kilkenny to keep us On Top
Our minor boys were unlucky not to win in Kilkenny. We went down to an early goal and were still 1-0 down at half time despite lots of possession. In the second half we lifted our game led by the flying Robin Macarulay who drove the end line and set up two great goals for Ben Mc Tiernan. Ben and Robin are developing a great partnership. We got back to 1-1 then we went 2-1 up and again gave away a soft goal to allow Kilkenny to draw level. Captain Traloch Butler, Tristan Molphy and Jake Nourse won lots of possession and drove the team forward in the second half. Big Ben scored again to put us 3-2 up. With ten seconds remaining Kilkenny won a corner and scored to seal the draw at 3-3.
We still top the group and if we win our last game against KH on Friday 27th. we go into the A semi Finals as the group leaders ahead of St. Andrews A team whom we beat earlier.
Final Score: Kilkenny 3, St. Kilians 3
