On 5th October 2017 we celebrated the successful completion of the Sprachdiplom exams of 56 of our students in our Lynn Hall.
Gabriele Adelberger, Head of the German Department, welcomed all students and guests and introduced the Primary School Choir who performed three lovely songs in German and English. Ambassador Höpfner addressed the students in a short speech and then presented them with their certificates.
The Sprachdiplom (German Language Diploma, DSD) of the Kultusministerkonferenz (Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs) is the only educational programme of the Federal Republic of Germany for German as a foreign language abroad and is conducted on two levels: A2/B1 or B2/C1. The DSD programme was established in 1973 with the aim of improving the knowledge of the German language and culture in schools worldwide. In addition to the Junior Certificate and the Leaving Certificate, the DSD examinations are an integral component of the curriculum at St. Kilian’s German School.
Many thanks to Gabriele Adelberger, Ambassador Höpfner, Ms Thielemans, Ms Brennan and Ms Holloway for all their help with this event and to the Primary School Choir for their performance.
