Mr O’Driscoll and Ms Brennan recently took 8th Class students on an Irish language surf trip to Freedom Surf School in Tramore, Co. Waterford. The students learned the basics of surfing all through the medium of Irish. National Surf Champion, Holly Widger, put the students through their paces on the waves in perfect weather and surf conditions. After a well-deserved lunch, the students enjoyed a coastal walk before returning to Dublin.
A great time was had by all. Some students have already expressed interest in returning to the surf school to obtain the White Water Surf Certificate, awarded by The Irish Surfing Association, all while improving their Irish. Well done to all who caught some waves!
Le déanaí, thóg Mr O’Driscoll & Ms Brennan, daltaí óna ranganna Gaeilge i mBliain a hOcht ar thuras surfála Gaeilge i Scoil Surfála Freedom, Trá Mhór, Co. Phort Láirge. D’fhoghlaim na daltaí faoi na bunphrionsabail surfála trí mhéan na Gaeilge. Chuir an Seaimpín Surfála Náisiúnta, Holly Widger, na daltaí amach ar na tonnta in aimsir agus surfáil a bhí foirfe. Tar éis lóin a bhí tuillte acu, bhain na daltaí taitneamh as siúlóid ar an gcósta roimh filleadh go Bhaile Átha Cliath.
Bhí am iontach ag na daltaí. Cheana féin, tá cuid de na daltaí ag iarraidh dul ar ais chun Teastas Surfála Uisce Bháin, atá bronntar ó Chumann Surfála na hÉireann a fháil agus feabhas a chur ar a gcuid Gaeilge. Maith sibh a chairde!
