On 11th April 2018 our Primary School successfully completed their Run Around Europe Challenge which saw them cover the distance from Dublin to Berlin (1,705 km) over the past few months. Every single child, from Kindergarten to 6th class took part and really enjoyed the experience of this joint effort. As a reward they all received Apfelschorle and Brezel after their final run.
This run was also done as a fundraiser for Special Olympics Ireland. We raised a fantastic €500 which enables us to sponsor 2 athletes for their upcoming games. A big thank you to all the pupils, parents and staff!
A huge thank you must also go to the Primary PE teachers Ms Collins and Mr Goldrick who put a lot of time and effort into this project and who kept the children motivated throughout.
Thanks also goes to Active Ireland who supported us with this initiative and to Gwen O’Looney in particular who joined us for a final Run Around Europe Assembly. She encouraged the children to continue exercising on a regular basis and to keep their bodies fit and healthy.
