Congratulations to our Concern Debating Team of 11th class who won their 5th debate last night! They successfully and convincingly proposed the motion that The EU is failing Africa against the opposition from Portmarnock Community School.
Captained by Leah Fellenz and ably supported by her teammates, Oscar Toomey, Aisling Burns and Isabel Van der Voort, the team put in an impressive performance at a very well attended debate. Not only supported by their classmates and parents, the debaters were honoured by the presence of last year’s team from 12th class: Sophie Linnane chaired the debate, Meabhdh Connolly was our time-keeper and Ciara Connolly and Lia Taylor Schaffer made contributions from the floor. The St. Kilian’s community spirit was much in evidence!
We wish the 11th class every success in the next round – they are now down to the final 16 of the 150 teams who entered this national competition – a great achievement.
